Department of Services and Consulting (Department III), Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society

  • Department 3 (Services and Consulting) at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society offers various bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in the fields of business taxation and auditing, finance and accounting as well as logistics and business informatics. Research and transfer activities at the department are related to these main subjects of teaching.

Within the business informatics degree programs, and in particular the master’s degree program, AI is anchored due to the Data Science major. Amongst other things, the curriculum comprises modules in „Big Data and Realization“, „Analysis and Knowledge Management“, and „Advanced Analytics“. Besides statistical methods, the lectures deal with machine learning and neural networks. Research activities focus on the subject areas “Copulas and dependence modelling of high-dimensional data“, “combining Copulas and machine learning“, “neural networks and autoencoders“ as well as “statistical methods for small sample sizes”.

In the bachelor's program with a focus on finance, AI topics are only marginally covered. One example is the topic of robo-advice in the course "Portfolio and Capital Market Theory".

In the bachelor and master program in logistics the application of AI in the field of logistics is shown. For example, in connection with autonomous driving (Platooning).
