Department of Biology, University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU)

  • The Biology department has a broad focus on investigating biological molecules, living organisms, and their interactions with each other and the environment. Modern biological research employs established techniques as well as cutting-edge technologies to explore complex and advanced research questions. In particular, artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, such as machine learning and deep learning, are increasingly being utilized to analyze large biological datasets, including sequence information, microscopy images, gene regulation, and protein interaction data. These AI techniques enable the identification of patterns and relationships that would be difficult or impossible to discern through traditional methods. Because of the significant scientific advancements made possible by data science and AI in the field, the department of Biology also includes theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the educational programs for undergraduates and graduates.
