Construction Site of the Future - Automation and Digitization

  • The history of mankind and its civilization is closely linked to the construction industry, which fulfills needs for protection in buildings, mobility on traffic routes or for supply and disposal. Construction reliably provides the basic infrastructure and enables progress, but in the future, it must become climate-friendly and conserve resources. This can only be achieved if all disciplines involved in construction are jointly committed to this goal and bring together the research expertise of the individual disciplines in a beneficial way. Important methods are the increased use of digitization, including BIM, automation, and artificial intelligence to improve design and processes, as well as the development of optimized components and supporting structures using innovative evaluation methods in the sense of the circular economy. An optimal value chain from the digital twin to the built reality is an essential basis for this.
