The Center for Ethics and the Digital Society (CEDIS) looks at digital technologies and artificial intelligence from an interdisciplinary perspective: Scientists from philosophy, computer science, pedagogics, linguistics, communication psychology and other socially relevant fields jointly research at RPTU how such key technologies can be used in an ethically and socially acceptable way. In the university potential area at the interface of ethics, AI research, society, pedagogics and linguistics, the transformation processes associated with digitalization in the various areas of life, such as healthcare, work, socialization and the environment, are analyzed and critically reflected. In this way, the respective applications with their opportunities and risks can be questioned with regard to the individual and the community, and courses of action for society and politics can be formulated and weighed up. CEDIS is now entering its second funding period. The spokesperson is Prof. Dr. Karen Joisten, Head of the Department of Philosophy at RPTU, Kaiserslautern Campus; co-spokespersons are: Prof. Dr. Mandy Schiefner-Rohs, Department of General Education, Kaiserslautern Campus, Prof. Dr. Ralf Becker, Department of Philosophy, Landau Campus, Prof. Dr. Jan Georg Schneider, Department of Linguistics, Landau Campus.
