  • Medical informatics deals with the systematic organization, representation and analysis of data, information and knowledge in medicine and healthcare. The aim of medical informatics is to optimize the medical care process using digitization and to contribute to new knowledge in medicine and healthcare through research. For this purpose, medical computer science uses different methods of information technologies (such as: artificial intelligence, mobile systems, digital image processing,...) in healthcare.

    For this reason, theories, methods, procedures and techniques of computer science and other sciences are used and adapted to health care. Data security, data protection and patient security play an essential role in the development of network infrastructures, information and communication systems as well as software-based medical devices and apps.

    In addition to the term medical informatics, terms such as eHealth, health informatics, telemedicine, personal health (care) are used today, which broaden or even specialise in the field of computer science in the field of medicine.

    No matter which term, computer science has always been a science that is known through its application. In medical informatics, in addition to computer science, you will receive the knowledge that enables you to use and develop IT solutions in medicine and healthcare. You will be able to constructively analyze problems with the respective experts and develop IT-based solutions based on them.
